EDEM Simulation of Powder Spreading in Additive Manufacturing

In Additive Manufacturing (also known as 3D printing), the powder spreading process has a major impact on the characteristics and quality of the final product. Discrete Element Modeling (DEM) can be used to simulate and analyze the powder spreading process – providing key insight that is otherwise hard to obtain. This video shows how DEM simulation can be used to investigate the impact of different parameters on the quality of the powder bed, evaluate powder spreading uniformity, assess degree of compaction and visualize the distribution of different powder layers.
EDEM is the market-leading Discrete Element Method (DEM) software for bulk material simulation.

DEC Group – Drum Containment Systems

During production it is invaluable to be able to charge a wide range of receivers or packaging. Each application has different handling requirements. Flexible integration is critical, with safety, productivity, containment and cleaning also being key issues.

The DCS Drum Containment System by the Dec Group has been developed to provide a safe and contained method of filling drums, big bags and continuous liners. It also has the capability of emptying process equipment and filling packaging in one step. Precise Big Bag filling is also provided by the DCS system in combination with a PTS Feeder.

NBE National Bulk Equipment – Bulk Bag Unloaders Safely and Accurately Discharge Ingredients

This 5-station, bulk bag unloader system combines high-capacity structural construction with a centralized controls and automation architecture to safely and accurately supply to downstream process operations a total of 12 million pounds-per-year of five, combustible input ingredients. Each bulk bag unloader station is constructed of thick-wall, 6-inch by 4-inch carbon steel structural tubing, and heavy-gauge carbon steel plate to meet, or exceed, ANSI and ASME specifications. The controls and automation architecture of the 5-station system uses custom PLCs and HMIs engineered, programmed, and built by NBE to integrate to the process facility’s central control system, while also complying with international standards.
